Invisalign
Sandhurst & Camberley

If you’re longing for beautiful straight teeth, but don’t want to spend months with a mouth full of metal, you should consider having your teeth straightened with Invisalign braces.

Invisalign is different because they straighten teeth invisibly using a series of clear plastic retainers. They are so discreet that no one needs to know that you’re having orthodontic treatment!

Patients throughout Camberley, Sandhurst, Crowthorne, Yateley, Blackwater and throughout Surrey are choosing to have their teeth straightened with clear, removable Invisalign braces.

HOW INVISALIGN
BRACES WORK

After your initial consultation, 3D images of your teeth will be taken with an advanced i-Tero scanner. These images show your current smile and how it will transform throughout Invisalign treatment. Patients love this step as it gives a preview of their final results.

The scans are then used to create your custom-made aligners, which take about two weeks to prepare. At your next visit, your dentist will fit the first set of aligners. Depending on your case, small tooth-coloured attachments may be added to help the aligners grip — they are painless and barely visible.

You’ll be given several aligners to change weekly. For best results, Invisalign must be worn at least 22 hours a day, and should only be removed for eating, drinking, and brushing.

FAQs

How long will it take to straighten my teeth with Invisalign?

Each patient is different, and we cannot answer this question precisely without first seeing your teeth. The time will depend upon the severity of your orthodontic case. If you need minor teeth straightening, it may take between 3 and 6 months to straighten your teeth with Invisalign. If your orthodontic need is more severe, it may take 18 months. As an average, most patients finish having their teeth straightened with Invisalign within 12 months.

How should I look after my Invisalign aligners?

You should gently brush your Invisalign aligners with a toothbrush and a dot of toothpaste. Please remove your aligners to eat and drink anything other than cold water to avoid breaking or staining them.

What happens if I don’t wear my Invisalign aligners for 22 hours a day?

If you don’t wear your Invisalign aligners for the minimum 22 hours a day, you risk delaying your treatment. Regularly forgetting to wear your aligners will mean that you cannot move on to the next aligner in the series as your teeth will not have reached their correct position in time.

Why must you take your Invisalign braces out to eat and drink?

You must take your Invisalign aligners out to eat and drink anything other than water because otherwise you risk staining your braces or chewing through them! Invisalign is made of a thin, flexible plastic so there is a risk of breaking them if you eat with them in. Staining your clear braces will look and taste quite disgusting too! You’ll soon get into the habit of quickly taking your braces out before eating and drinking.

What happens if I damage or lose Invisalign aligners?

Phone us at the dental surgery in Shepperton and we will assess whether you should move on to the next set of aligners in the series or wear the aligners that came previously. For this reason, we suggest not throwing your Invisalign aligners away until you have completed treatment.
